The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. -- Albert Einstein
On Sunday, Aaron Klein and John Batchelor interviewed Ahmed Yousef, chief political adviser to the Prime Minister of Hamas, on WABC radio. The interview produced a scoop which, for some reason, has not been widely publicized: Hamas has endorsed Barack Obama for President. Yousef said, "We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election." Why? "He has a vision to change America." Maybe Yousef has some insight into what Obama means by all these vague references to "change."
When Obama first ran for the U.S. Senate, he gave militant responses to the Chicago Jewish News about Israel. Obama denounced Israel's fence--which he called a "wall" and "barrier to peace"--to keep out terrorists and favored working with Yasser Arafat. When members of the Chicago Jewish community circulated his responses, Obama said that the answers were not his positions, but the work of a low-level intern. He submitted new answers. But that was a lie, the insider says. In fact, they were the work of Obama's Policy Director, Audra Wilson.
Obama then asked to fill out another questionnaire from the Chicago Jewish News and changed his answers to please Jewish voters, even though his original answers were his real views.
Tony Rezko pimped out Barack Obama to impress Nadhmi Auchi, a bad operator who found the political culture in Chicago and Illinois amenable to his kind of investment acumen. The only problem was that Rezko's deal was in trouble, and Rezko himself was caught up in, among other scandals, a minority-contracting scam with the Dalely administration. At the same time, Rezko was wheeling and dealing with the Blagojevich administration and everyone in the political universe knew he was under federal investigation for it but Obama asked for his help buying a $1.6 million mansion and appeared at a couple of events to help Rezko impress Auchi and others.
Now Obama's memory is faulty because there's that pesky question of judgement, as well as the stain on his meticulously burnished image as a beacon of hope and reform because his relationship with both Rezko and the Machine and politics-as-usual is deeper than he's ever cared to admit.
WSJ - Talk about math wars: Sen. Hillary Clinton, flush with her 200,000-vote win in the Pennsylvania primary, is suggesting that the popular vote should settle the presidential nomination.
Soon enough, residents will get accustomed to cops armed to the teeth like Marines in Baghdad. But then that’s the point, to send a message to the civilians: you now live in an authoritarian police state, Officer Friendly is now G.I. Joe.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez summed it up like this, "It is a massacre of the world’s poor. The problem is not the production of food. It is the economic, social and political model of the world. The capitalist model is in crisis."
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.
At least 53 Iraqis were killed and 148 more were wounded in the latest security incidents. Several suicide bombings took place in the Mosul area. Meanwhile, Turkish air forces bombed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) locations in northern Iraq, but no casualties were reported. No Coalition deaths were announced either.

The Encarta Encyclopedia describes militarism as “advocacy of an ever-stronger military as a primary goal of society, even at the cost of other social priorities and liberties.” And it relates militarism to chauvinism, fascism, and national socialism. As uncomfortable as it may be for many, this chilling definition accurately describes the historical trajectory and current reality of U.S. national security policy. The threatened first use of nuclear weapons remains at the heart of that policy, and at the core of StratCom’s mission.
LONDON (AFP) — Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has called for an international tribunal to try Western leaders with war crimes over the war in Iraq, a spokesman for the organisers said.
Congressional Democrats are backing away from healthcare reform promises made by their two presidential candidates, saying that even if their party controls the White House and Congress, sweeping change will be difficult.
The so-called 3 tramps were photographed in Dealy Plaza November 22, 1963 shortly after President John F. Kennedy's assassination. They were identified as being CIA agents or at least back pocket agents that had CIA credentials at one time or another. The most convincing have been the identities of Frank Sturgis or Daniel Carswell as the first tramp in line and Carswell or Sturgis as the 2nd tramp. Most who have studied these photos at length are quite convinced that the 3rd tramp is E. Howard Hunt. Both Sturgis and Hunt later would be caught doing special operations for President Nixon in the Watergate Burglary case. The 3rd tramp was also identified by some as Fred Crisman another CIA connected spook.
Afghans across the country are expressing frustration at the sharp rise in food prices, mirroring trends elsewhere around the globe. Observers worry that the continuing food insecurity will force millions to go hungry and spark widespread instability.
I admit to feeling a little like the weatherman who keeps saying it's going to rain, and who eventually is proven correct. I feel certain that the Bush/Cheney regime is going to launch a disastrous attack on Iran, but have made several calls, which have been proved wrong, beginning back in October 2006, when I wrote that it looked like several aircraft carrier battle groups were being put in position for the assault, but then it was called off.
even as the sheriff's actions are proven legal and professional, he is accused of "grandstanding," "racial profiling," and ignoring the elected officials of the towns in which his sweeps have occurred. The AP also reminds us that the sheriff's "raids" are occurring "on heavily Hispanic sections." This "heavily Hispanic" line is thrown into the story as if looking for illegals in "heavily Hispanic" areas is somehow a racist action. Of course, logic would make one ask where else would one look for illegals if not in the areas in which they congregate?
WESLEY CHAPEL - First graders at Seven Oaks Elementary School had an unusual start to their day Friday. Two school employees were yanked out of their classroom after allegations that they’d strapped a student to a chair and taped her mouth shut.
After months of presentations to the City Council and private talks with each its members, last night Mayor Holly Madrigal presented a Resolution calling for Willits City Council to vote to direct Congress to hold impeachment hearings on Bush and Cheney.
For aggressive investors who know how to manage risk, consider buying some gold.
I'd recommend buying some gold or silver anyway. The dollar is going to die at some point (and this is of course is being accelerated by our disastrous foreign policy, the non-federal 'Federal' Reserve and big bankers) and i'm concerned about how the transition to a new currency will take place. I think that those who have allot of dollar based investments could stand to lose a lot, perhaps everything. There's no debating the fact that, with the continuing decline of the dollar, those with extra cash on hand are watching their money evaporate. Why not invest in a solid currency that has a proven track record of holding its value?
If the worst case scenario plays out, many people with dollar based investments will be kicking themselves in the ass for not having some metals on hand with which to buy necessities. And if it doesn't come to that, what have you lost by having a few gold or silver pieces on hand? -- ZDN
John McCain can’t seem to remember that he said he’d be willing to tear down the lower 9th ward in NOLA after only three days. I mean, give me a break. Is that Presidential material? I ask you, is it? Media, hello, are you there?
They claim that a strong dollar is in our best interest while they destroy the dollar. They claim inflation is 4%, when it is over 12%. They claim unemployment is 5% when it is 14%. They claim we lost 80,000 jobs last month when most likely we lost over 300,000. They claim our economy is turning around as consumer confidence drops to the lows of the early 1980's and in light of the fact that 70% of our tanking economy is driven by consumer spending. They make it look like the big banks and financial institutions are being bailed out by the Fed when it is really the taxpayers doing the bailing through HUD, FHLB, Fannie, Freddie and hyperinflation. They say banks are starting to show signs of recovery even as their insolvency deepens due to the ongoing destruction of a mountain of quivering derivatives as foreclosures accelerate, as real estate prices plummet, as maniacal bets are unwound and as the bear market in bonds gets underway because rate cuts appear to be subsiding for a short while, at least until the next debacle hits. The old "we're in it for the long term" is being bandied about again by the media morons (aka commentators) to keep the dupes in so the Illuminati can bail out at the top through their dark pools of liquidity while everyone else is left holding the bag.
The BRAD BLOG learned this morning that a New Jersey judge has today given plaintiffs and Princeton University computer scientists the right to examine the state's Sequoia AVC Advantage touch-screen voting machines which failed to record voter totals accurately, in at least six different counties, during the Garden State's recent Super Tuesday primary.

A member of the health and environment committee of the Iraqi legislature, Liqaa Al-Yassin (Sadrist) says Iraqi authorities have medical and forensic proof that the Americans have been using cluster bombs in their air-strikes on Sadr City, the proof being in the form of the type of marks these weapons leave on the bodies of the dead and wounded.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declares: “Four or five years ago, a suspicious event occurred in New York. A building collapsed and they said that 3,000 people had been killed but never published their names.… Under this pretext, [the US] attacked Afghanistan and Iraq and since then, a million people have been killed only in Iraq.” [Ha'aretz, 4/17/2008]
There are four major groups within the Nixon presidential campaign, Felt says. The “November Group” handles campaign advertising. Another group handles political espionage and sabotage for both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. A third “primary group” did the same for the campaign primaries (this group not only worked to sabotage Democrats, but Republican primary opponents of Nixon’s as well). And a fourth, the “Howard Hunt group,” is also known as the “Plumbers,” working under Hunt (see June 17, 1972).
